Meet Our Principal
Mr. Stephen Buck, Deer Creek Academy Principal
Mr. Stephen Buck is passionate about the work being done at Deer Creek Academy. With more than 20 years of experience in education, Mr. Buck works each day to lead our school with knowledge, compassion and heart. Mr. Buck served as an assistant principal at Deer Creek Middle School for eight years before becoming the principal at DCA more than four years ago. Mr. Buck led the district's virtual learning program during the COVID-19 pandemic, overseeing more than 1,200 students at one time. Prior to becoming an administrator, Mr. Buck taught sixth and seventh grade science and biology. He holds a bachelors degree from the University of Oklahoma and a masters degree from Grand Canyon University.
When asked why he chose a career in education, Mr. Buck said, "I was not the best student in high school and did not attend college until I was 30. I understand what it's like to not enjoy school. When I decided on education as a career, I wanted to help kids see that they have value and that education is a key step in finding and fostering that value."
Outside of school, Mr. Buck enjoys spending time with his wife and three kids, Remie, Zane and Hunter. He enjoys camping, hiking, going to concerts and playing the guitar.
